On February 25, Ambassador Li Xiang visited the North Red Sea Region, where he met with Mr. Tewolde Kelati, the Minister of Marine Resources of Eritrea. Counsellor Lai Chunsheng, responsible for economic and commercial affairs at the embassy attended.
During the meeting, Ambassador Li emphasized the profound traditional friendship between China and Eritrea and the potential for cooperation in various fields, particularly in fisheries. He mentioned that President Isaias Afwerki’s visits to China for two consecutive years and his discussions with President Xi Jinping have led to a series of important consensuses, jointly shaping a blueprint for the development of bilateral relations. He expressed China's willingness to seize the opportunity to implement the "Ten Partnership Actions", enhancing capacity building and infrastructure investment in marine resources development, thus advancing the China-Eritrea strategic partnership to new heights.
Minister Tewolde warmly welcomed Ambassador Li's visit and provided a overview of Eritrea's marine resources and the latest development projects. He expressed a desire to strengthen cooperation with China.
