On October 23, 2024, Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council Ding Xuexiang met with representatives of foreign scientists attending the 2024 World Science and Technology Development Forum in Beijing. Ding Xuexiang said that deepening international exchanges and cooperation and promoting sustainable development through scientific and technological innovation are urgently needed to address important global issues and meet the expectations of people around the world and the global sci-tech community. The more complex the international environment is, the more open China will be. China will steadfastly advocate and practice the concept of open, fair, just and non-discriminatory international cooperation in science and technology, actively promote joint research on major sci-tech issues, foster an open and innovative ecosystem, and promote the sharing of sci-tech achievements to bring more benefits to humanity. During the meeting, 12 scientists from the United States and European countries voiced their firm support for openness and cooperation, and expressed their willingness to deepen exchanges with China, produce more innovative results through cooperation, and work together to promote global sustainable development.
