On 31 May, Ambassador Li Xiang called on Dr. Gergis Teklemichael, the Minister of Finance and National Development of Eritrea.

Ambassador Li stated that China and Eritrea enjoy a profound traditional friendship and strong political mutual trust. He expressed China's willingness to work together with Eritrea to deepen and expand practical cooperation between the two countries, elevating the China-Eritrea strategic partnership to new heights.

Minister Gergis welcomed Ambassador Li's assumption of office, emphasized that Eritrea places great importance on developing its relationship and bilateral cooperation with China. He expressed the admiration for the achievements in China's economic and social development, and the expectation on further strengthening cooperation with the Chinese side in relevant fields.
