On November 17, the 6th China Kite Cultural Festival, hosted by the Chinese Embassy in Eritrea and the Commission of Culture and Sports, organized by the Confucius Institute, was successfully held at the Eritrea’s National Stadium.A total of 43 teams from all walks of life in China and Eritrea participated in the competition, and more than 1,500 teachers and students from primary and secondary schools in Eritrea cheered on the scene.

In his speech, Mr.Li Xiang, Chinese Ambassador to Eritrea, said that under the strategic guidance of the heads of state of China and Eritrea, the two countries have continuously strengthened strategic mutual trust, firmly supported each other, and deepened mutually beneficial cooperation. Kite culture originated in China and is world-renowned. It is an important medium for deepening cultural exchanges and bringing people closer together. May the friendship between China and Eritrea fly high like a kite.

After the competition, Ambassador Li Xiang and the guests jointly awarded certificates and prizes to the winning teams and took photos together. There were folk dance, modern dance, song show and other cultural performances during the competition. 

Kite experts from Weifang, Shandong Province, held a kite culture lecture at the University of Asmara yesterday.
