Located alongside the Red Sea, Eritrea used to be an important hub on ancient Silk Road. Boasting a time-honored history, beautiful scenery, honest and warm-hearted people, and splendid culture, Eritrea is acclaimed as the “Pearl of the Red Sea”. In Eritrea, you can experience unspoiled natural scenery, weathered historical relics, and a diverse and harmonious culture. Eritrea is rich in maritime and mining resources. Eritrea has hardworking, brave and unified people, and a huge potential of growth.

Both China and Eritrea have long and splendid civilizations. The two countries share similar experiences in anti colonialism, imperialism and hegemony, both value the principle of independence, and enjoy profound traditional friendship. Under the leadership of President Xi Jinping and President Isaias Afwerki, China and Eritrea continue to deepen our mutual political trust, engage in closer economic and trade cooperation, yield fruitful results in practical cooperation, and achieve in-depth people-to-people and cultural exchanges. On May, 2023, President Isaias paid a state visit to China and talked with President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang. The two Heads of State reached a series of important consensus, promoting China-Eritrea Strategic Partnership to new height.

The Chinese Embassy in Eritrea is committed to serve as a bridge of enhancing mutual trust and friendship between our two countries.
