As International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations is around the corner, on June 6, the 2026 "Chinese Bridge" Chinese Proficiency Competition in Eritrea, organized by the Chinese Embassy in Eritrea and hosted by the Confucius Institute in Eritrea was successfully held. Chargé d'Affaires Dai Demao of the Embassy, together with Eritrean officials, media and students representatives attended the competition.
Mr. Dai stated that the Global Civilization Initiative, proposed by H.E. President Xi Jinping, offers China's approach to fostering mutual understanding and affinity among peoples and the inclusive coexistence of different civilizations. It has also injected strong momentum into deepening people-to-people exchanges between China and Eritrea, and between China and Africa at large. Mr. Dai hopes that Eritrean friends will take the opportunity of the "China-Africa Year of People-to-people Exchanges" to serve as envoys of China-Eritrea friendship through this competition, and contribute the energy to carrying forward the traditional friendship and building a community with a shared future for humanity.

The competition filled with lively atmosphere, with contestants giving Chinese-themed speeches and showcasing talents such as Chinese singing, dancing, calligraphy, painting and martial arts.
